The grinder works fine if the finest grind you want is espresso. However, its description seemed to offer finer grinds than that, which it failed to be able to produce even on its finest setting. This is a big disappointment.
This is our second grinder.the first one just wore out from years of use. Great bargain for the money, but make sure you grind you coffee before going to bed or you will wake the entire house up in the morning.it is noisey.
Yes it's loud but aren't all grinders loud. I've had the Cuisinart DBM-8 grinder for over a year. The only issue I had was when I let the hole get clogged (the hole where the freshly ground beans pass from the grinder into the reservoir) and that was my own fault for not monitoring that and periodically cleaning it out. I am very pleased with its performance. You can adjust the grind to your preference and it holds enough beans to last about 5 - 7 days (I brew one pot a day). It can get a little messy when scooping the ground coffee out for use, but I place the reservoir on top of a paper towel and simply wipe up any stray grounds afterward. I would definitely recommend this product.
Very simplistic and really brings out best flavor. Read some previous reviews about "messy" but hey we use our kitchen and clean up after ourselves. we recommend this product.
With my blade grinder I was always fighting for a consistent grind and often ended up with several untouched beans or too-fine coffee that ended up making strong but bitter coffee and even caused an over flow or two from the filter clogging. When I am making coffee during the day it does not seem loud but at 5am when the rest of the house is asleep it seems a lot louder.
The "cup" setting is a timer that ranges from 4-12 cups but I tend to use a lot of beans and I found that it was leaving un-ground beans in the hopper when I was using the 4 cup setting so now I just set it to 6 cup and measure the beans my self, so it just ends up running 10 seconds or so after there are no beans left. I think this might be useful if you fill the hopper and wanted to just grind the right amount of beans for each pot of coffee but I store my beans in an air-tight container.
Had this about a month now and have been using it every day with great results after a few days of expirementing with the grind and quantity settings. Two things that kind of caught me off guard with this grinder are it's size, it is about the size of a 12 cup coffee maker, and it is pretty loud, kind of sounding like a hair dryer.
I have a drip coffee maker so have only been playing with the "medium" grind settings so I can't speak to the grinders ability to make fine or corse grinds but there seems to be plenty of range to make anyone happy. As others have said, it does produce a bit of bean dust that sticks in the output container but no more than my old blade grinder and it there are no whole beans left over like with the blade grinder.
Overall I am very happy with this unit for the price. Max
